Silent Book Club (sometimes called “Introvert Happy Hour”) is a worldwide movement where people bring their own books and read quietly together. There’s no assigned reading, no pressure to discuss—just time to enjoy reading in good company. Founded in San Francisco in 2012, it has grown to nearly 1,700 chapters across 55+ countries.

In Japan, Silent Book Club groups are active in Tokyo, Fukuoka, and online communities, offering cozy and inclusive spaces for book lovers to gather.

Silent Book Club Sumida
Silent Book Club Sumida launched in May 2025 at Atelier Shinkai, a creative community space in Kyojima. Since then, readers from Japan and abroad have gathered monthly to enjoy quiet reading and gentle conversation. The upcoming Sumida Expo edition will be the 5th monthly meeting.

October Gathering at Sumida Expo

Date & Time: Saturday, October 18, 2025, 3:00 PM

Location: Atelier Shinkai (深井荘 102, 3-49-14 Kyōjima, Sumida-ku, Tokyo)

Fee: ¥500 (includes light refreshments)

What to Expect: Bring any book you’d like (novel, manga, non-fiction, poetry). After a short welcome, we’ll read silently together for about an hour, then optionally share a cup of tea and light conversation.

サイレント・ブッククラブ（別名「Introvert Happy Hour」）は、世界中に広がる読書コミュニティです。課題本もなく、感想を話す義務もありません。好きな本を持ってきて、一緒に静かに読む時間を楽しみます。2012年にサンフランシスコで始まり、現在は55カ国以上、約1,700のチャプターに広がっています。

日本でも、東京や福岡をはじめ全国各地で開催されており、本を愛する人々がリラックスして集まれる場を提供しています。

サイレント・ブッククラブ墨田
サイレント・ブッククラブ墨田は、2025年5月に京島のアトリエ新開でスタートしました。それ以来、毎月開催されており、日本国内外の読書好きが集まり、静かに本を読み、穏やかな会話を楽しんでいます。今回の墨田エキスポでの集まりは、第5回目の定例会となります。

墨田エキスポでの10月の集まり

日時： 2025年10月18日（土）午後3時スタート

場所： アトリエ新開（東京都墨田区京島3-49-14 深井荘102）

参加費： 500円（軽いお茶菓子付き）

流れ： 好きな本（小説、漫画、エッセイ、詩など）を持参してください。最初に簡単な挨拶をした後、約1時間静かに読書をし、最後に希望者でお茶とおしゃべりを楽しみます。
