From Water and Light

Ewelina Skowrońska, Suzanne Mooney@Untitled space gallery

In this exhibition, artists Ewelina Skowronska and Suzanne Mooney work with dye techniques to create new works that play with nature in different ways. Using plant-based dyes to explore the potential of natural pigments in the process of image creation, or working with the 19th-century cyanotype photogram using natural sunlight exposure, both artists invite a third collaborator, the unpredictability of nature, to open the door for chance, or even chaos, in the creative process.

本展では、アーティストのエウェリナ・スコウロンスカとスザンヌ・ムーニーが、染色技術を駆使し、多様な方法で自然と実験を共にしながら生み出した新たな作品を展示いたします。植物由来の染料を用いて行われた、天然色素で色付けする画像作成の可能性の探求や、自然光の露光を利用する１９世紀のシアノタイプ フォトグラムの実験。制作工程の中で両アーティストが予測不可能な自然を3番目の共同制作者として招き入れることにより、時にはカオスが入り乱れるような、偶然性の扉を開放しました。

Ewelina Skowrońska is a Polish visual artist currently based in Tokyo.
Her practice weaves together various media like painting, printmaking, drawings, and ceramic. Her interests include concepts of body, nature, spirituality and psychology of human relations. Her work has been exhibited in Japan, as well as internationally.

ポーランド出身のアーティスト。現在、東京在住。作品は、絵画、版画、ドローイング、陶芸などのさまざまなメディアを織り交ぜます。主なテーマには、身体、自然、精神性、人間関係などの心理学的概念が含まれます。彼女の作品は国内外で展示されています。

Suzanne Mooney is an Irish artist living in Tokyo since 2009. Active in Europe and Asia, Mooney’s arts practice and research examine how representations of landscape in visual arts can reflect the lived-space of our contemporary culture, exploring issues of globalization, urbanization and the effects of technological developments in society. She has had solo exhibitions in Japan, Ireland, England and Korea, and is a professional member of Visual Artists Ireland.
スザンヌ・ムーニー
アイルランド、ダブリン出身のアーティスト。2009年より東京在住。ヨーロッパとアジアで活動。ビジュアルアートの景観的表現を通して、現代文化の生活空間における、グローバル化、都市化、技術発展が社会に及ぼす問題と影響を探り、提示している。日本、アイルランド、イギリス、韓国で個展を開催。Visual Artists Ireland会員。
